Rejoice Neil Patrick Harris fans, the four-time Tony Awards host is returning to the Great White Way in Spring 2014 after nearly ten years away!
Following his run on TV’s How I Met Your Mother, Harris is to star as Hedwig in the Broadway premiere of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask’s musical Hedwig And The Angry Inch, produced by David Binder! The remaining cast and creative team members, along with dates and the theatre will be announced in the future, reports Broadwayworld.com.
Speaking of his return to Broadway Harris has said, “I am simultaneously ecstatic and terrified to be stepping into Hedwig’s heels. It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime role and I can’t wait to begin the journey”.
Hedwig And The Angry Inch follows Hedwig (Harris) the transgender star of a rock and roll band, and was first produced by David Binder in 1997. Of this new venture Binder is said to be “so excited” to bring the show to Broadway, especially with “a consummate stage performer who knows how to rock” to lead the way!
