The Fall television season has just begun and while some shows are hits and some are misses, others haven’t even gotten the chance to air yet and may not even see light of day. For now that’s the case for the animated series, Murder Police.
Last May during the television Upfronts, Fox ordered 13 episodes of the animated series and it was set to premiere midseason. It probably would have aired during the network’s “Animation Domination” Sunday lineup alongside The Simpsons and Family Guy. But Fox execs were unhappy with the content the show had so far and it got the axe from this television season.
The series, which was created by Jason Ruiz and Family Guy’s David A. Goodman, centers on an unlucky detective and his unusual co-workers. Ruiz voices the main character, Manuel Sanchez, who seems to find himself in a complicated situation while solving crimes because of his clumsiness and the actions of his colleagues.
Glee star Jane Lynch voices Justice, Randal Hickox’s (Chi McBride) newest partner on the force who also happens to be a working mother that brings her baby to work with her. Will Sasso, Horatio Sanz and Peter Atencio also provide voices for the dysfunctional police force.
Murder Police may not be airing on Fox this season, but according to TV Guide, 20th Century Fox Television is on the lookout for a new home for it on one of the cable networks.
