New Music You Should Be Listening To – 9.23

Another week, another group of amazing new songs! Check out the music you should definitely have in your playlists, here!

This week’s new music gives us a double dose of Carrie Underwood but also the return of Avril Lavigne. In a surprise, Mariah Carey dropped a new track filled with diva sass. David Guetta released a new album and Lana Del Rey treated us to two new songs. We have a lot to get to for this week’s new music! We’ve added these new tracks to our running playlist, so go have a listen.

Carrie Underwood – Cry Pretty

On our last post, we spoke on some of the early release tracks from Underwood’s new album, but now we’ve heard the entire work. It’s astounding! Carrie Underwood has not created a bad record but there’s something about Cry Pretty that really stands above the rest. Maybe it’s the personal vibe she’s sharing that allows it to be so raw and pure, but we are here for it! Our favorite tracks include: ‘Low’, ‘Southbound’, and ‘Spinning Bottles’.

Mariah Carey – ‘GTFO’

Ms. Carey took us be surprise when we saw her new song on our Google Play homescreen. She doesn’t go for any extraordinary runs or notes in ‘GTFO’ (you know what it stands for) but it’s one of her best thanks to its simplicity. With the attitude on this song, we are really interested to see what comes next!

David Guetta – 7

David Guetta dropped his new album 7 packed full of amazing features from artists from Anne-Marie to Nicki Minaj. Guetta’s beats are club ready, as always, making us wonder why he didn’t release it for the summer months. No two songs sound the same as you sail through his latest work with the main vocals changing from track to track. ‘She Knows How To Love Me’ feat. Jess Glyne and ‘Flames’ are our favorites!

Lana Del Rey – ‘Mariners Apartment Complex’ and ‘Venice Bitch’

Del Rey’s first release with ‘Mariners Apartment Complex’ comes off slightly bland but her lyrics and subtle vocals still make it shine. However, ‘Venice Bitch’ might be the best song she’s released so far in her career. The track goes over nine minutes but we still didn’t want it to end and it’s so relatable! We have never been so excited to see what Lana Del Rey will give us next!

Avril Lavigne – ‘Head Above Water’

We have to admit that ‘Head Above Water’ is the one we were most excited about because we’ve been missing Lavigne in the music world. She faced some dire circumstances, nearing so close to death that she thought her time was really over. But through her health scare and personal struggles, Lavigne has given us one of her most intimate songs getting us very excited for her upcoming album. Welcome back Avril!
