Stars Jeremy Jordan and Anna Kendrick are currently filming the much anticipated feature adaptation of Jason Robert Brown’s cult musical The Last Five Years. Just yesterday Kendrick tweeted the first picture from the movie set, but many more set pictures have followed since.
The Last Five Years follows the beginning and end of the marriage between writer Jamie (Jordan) and actress Cathy (Kendrick). The film, like the play, is told from rotating perspectives as Cathy tells her story at the end of the relationship, and Jamie tells the story from the relationships fresh and hopeful beginning.
The innovative two-character musical film directed by Richard LaGravense has Kendrick and Jordan sporting a more dated look as they film the number “I Can Do better Than That,” a number that happens while the two embark on a road trip from New York to Connecticut.
The release date of the film has yet to be confirmed, but is expected to be completed at the end of the year in time to be considered for award season.
