New Trailer Shows Us The Comedic Side To S.H.I.E.L.D.

A new preview of the upcoming Marvel series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has been released, and it seems like we’re in for a decent amount of comedy! The video introduces us to the characters Agents Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), who aside from being very clever and very good at their job, are also a bit… well… weird.

"They have a brother-sister relationship," Henstridge explains to The Huffington Post. “Together, they are unstoppable.”  “They’ve kind of got their own language, which puts them in their own world aside from everyone else,” De Caestecker added.

Henstridge later went on to explain that the English-Scottish duo are just very enthusiastic about everything, and that it gives the series a great bit of comedy. “It’s just really fun,” she concluded. They will be joining main character agent Phil Coulsin (Clark Gregg), who supposedly died in the film The Avengers but has now been resurrected, most likely with a very good explanation as it is Joss Whedon who is behind the creation of the series.

On the subject of continuation, he explained that he finds it very important that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D can be understood on its own, so that viewers can enjoy it without having seen the films.   ”It’s very important to me that the show stands on its own, that people who never saw any of the movies can tune in and enjoy it,” he told EW. “We like being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe; we like having all of the mythos to play off of — but if the show was, ‘You just missed Tony Stark. Wow. He was just here!’ it would be the most unsatisfying show ever. We have a new ensemble — apart from Clark, it’s all people I’ve never worked with before — but I’m really excited about them. I’m really proud of them and I think people are just going to want to see them every week.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be broadcast in the US on Tuesdays at 8 PM on ABC this fall, although the official premiere date still has to be announced. Stay tuned for all the latest info.
