Nickelodeon Snubs Its Own Stars

You may have heard of the Kids Choice Awards hosted by Nickelodeon. If you haven’t here are the basics: It’s an awards show where winners are picked by kids and teens via online voting.

Throughout the awards show, there are musical performances from various artists. But they never seem to pick their own artists. People always see the big singers coming out of Disney Channel, but Nickelodeon produces music artists too.

Only they never seem to let their own artists perform. This year’s performers so far are Pitbull, Christina Aguilera and Ke$ha. But what about the artists that work for Nickelodeon?

Artists like Big Time Rush, Victoria Justice, Ariana Grande, Miranda Cosgrove, Leon Tomas III, Max Schneider and Liz Gillies who have been cast in multiple Nickelodeon projects are being overlooked for more “popular” artists.

Now, I know that while not everybody knows who these people are, the target audience is the kids. I also see where Nick is coming from by trying to draw a larger audience. But if the awards show is based on kids, for kids and the winners are voted on by kids, then why not let their favorite stars perform?

Personally, I don’t think it’s very fair to them. They work so hard for Nickelodeon to continuously put out quality shows, movies and music and they get no recognition by their own network. But there is nothing anybody can do. The CEO’s of Nick have spoken and unless the stars revolt, nothing will ever change.

Tune into the KCA’s on Nickelodeon March 23 at 7PM.
