Nikita. An Underrated Series.

Susan Booth
Staff Writer

I know that most us out there in the world tend to only focus on the shows we love and tend to ignore those that are worth watching, but as most of us have seen, it’s the T.V shows that are underrated and ignored that end up dying a slow death and then disappear from our screens just as we realize how good they are. Nikita is of those shows, and I’d like to take the chance to talk about this series and why I think it needs some attention.

Nikita (Maggie Q) is a trained assassin who goes rogue who is trying to stop a secret U.S agency known as “Division”, as they try and recruit teenagers and train them to become assassins. Niktia does her best to stop them at every turn, and she does it very well. Nikita is chased by Michael (Shane West), and he always gets so close to getting her, only to let her slip away. Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) starts out as a mole for Nikita who becomes an agent later. I won’t go into too much detail, in case anyone finds themselves interested in watching this show.

I only began watching watching Nikita yesterday, and I didn’t start from the first episode. I walked in as some of my family was watching it on Hulu and I found myself interested in the story. I watched an episode from the current season, which is what got me hooked into it. Maggie Q is actually the very first Asian-American actress to star as the main character in an American drama. Shane West has been acting for years, I loved him in “A Walk To Remember”! Devon Sawa is in this show as well, yet I still don’t know his storyline completely. All the actors in this show are just wonderful and I really hope they know that. They put on a great show for the fans and should be recognized for the work that they do.

Nikita is on Netflix, you can stream the first two seasons. Newer episodes are on the CW’s webiste and the app as well. I know that some of you might think that it’s like the show “Alias” and that it might be a failed reboot of “La Femme Nikita”, but rest assured it’s something new and hot and a lot of fun to watch! So, give it shot! There’s no harm in trying, because if you don’t at least say you tried watching it, it may be gone before you know it and then you’ll be wondering what happened to this awesome show.
