‘Ocean’s 8’ First Trailer Talk

Sandra Bullock steps into George Clooney’s shoes as Debbie Ocean in an attempted heist during the New York Met in the new teaser for ‘Ocean’s 8’!

Are you in or out? And Merry Christmas to us! Warner Brothers is back with the Ocean’s 11 (2001) spinoff, Ocean’s 8 (2018), and we’ve now got our very first look at the next sure to be summer smash in the first teaser that just dropped!

Con-artist Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock), presumably some relation to Danny Ocean from the original Steven Soderbergh trilogy (George Clooney), rounds up a tag team of loose screws and dangerous gals in a planned heist of New York City’s Met Gala.

The trailer certainly has a familiar Ocean’s 11 vibe, but still manages to come off as fresh and have its own style and sensibility with an all-female cast this time around. Cate Blanchett plays Lou, who it seems is the wingman – or wingwoman – to Debbie Ocean, almost a Brad Pitt as Rusty Ryan to George Clooney’s Danny Ocean equivalent. It certainly looks like a fun time at the movies, with plenty of glitz, glamour, humor, and even action to go around. Who could ask for a better cast than this A-list we’re getting?

Directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games (2012), Free State of Jones (2016)), Ocean’s 8 will star Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side (2009)), Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine (2013)), Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project (2012-2017), Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada (2006)), Rihanna (Battleship (2012)), Helena Bonham Carter (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)), Olivia Munn (Office Christmas Party (2016)), Sarah Paulson (12 Years a Slave (2013)), Dakota Fanning (War of the Worlds (2005)), Awkwafina (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016)), Katie Holmes (Logan Lucky (2017)), Richard Armitage (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)), and James Corden (Into the Woods (2014)), and hits the galas next summer on June 8, 2018.
