New York-raised Olivia Morreale started her musical education as a teen sneaking into underground jazz clubs in New York City where she fell in love with the collaborative and transformative nature of the genre. At the age of eighteen, Olivia relocated to LA to attend USC’s Thornton School of Music to study pop and jazz. Now, melding her jazz background with her immersion in Los Angeles’s pop utopia, Olivia has created her own dreamy, synth-infused sound that combines colorful lyric imagery, deliberate instrumental hooks, and smooth vocals.
Despite the stress and uncertainty caused by the ongoing pandemic, 2021 has so far been a great year for Olivia and the next few months look to be just as busy and successful. Fresh off the release of her brand new EP ‘SPACE DREAMS’, she’s now taking fans further into her creative world with release of her official music video for the single “Another Moon,” which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere.
She created the “Another Moon” video in collaboration with filmmaker Amanda Prager and says that it was: “…a long time coming, we had been planning in broad strokes for years to do something with one of my songs,” Olivia says. “We shot at random locations around LA — the beach, the desert, the city — and we were just trying things out and having fun. We share a lot of the same tastes aesthetically, so we maximized our mutual aesthetic through the creation of this video. This is definitely a video of both of our personalities combined in a crazy way.”
Through sweeping birds-eye view shots, beautiful locations, and vivid colors, the video captures the escapist themes of the song. Olivia calls “Another Moon” an “ode to escapism and a celebration of imagination,” and that is definitely a sentiment that shines through in this visual. “Another Moon” is one of the four songs on Olivia’s recently released ‘SPACE DREAMS’ EP. The record is a thrilling blend of jazz, pop, R&B and indie-electronica — it’s experimental yet still wholly accessible. Lyrically, the EP examines the ways in which escapism can be accessed through imagination and dreams, mirroring the soothing, dreamy production that underscores each song.
