Reports say Academy Award winning actress Sandra Bullock is in early talks to join Sony Pictures’ remake of the classic musical Annie. According to The Hollywood Reporter the acclaimed actress is up for the role of Miss Hannigan, the drunken middle-aged mean woman who runs the orphanage where Annie and her friends live. The role has previously been played by Hollywood heavyweights such as Carol Burnett and Kathy Bates, and is currently played by Jane Lynch in the Broadway revival.

Reports circulated in March that Bullock was in talk with producers but has denied the offer. Now both sides are apparently talking again and working through negotiations.

If Bullock were to sign on she would join Quvenzhane Wallis as Annie, and Jamie Foxx who will play Benjamin Stacks, a modern version of Daddy Warbucks. Annie is planned for release during the 2014 holiday season. Will Smith and Jay-Z are among the film’s producers.

Tell us! Does Sandra Bullock seem right for the part?
