Oncers were jumping for joy at the San Diego Comic Con as the celebrated pop culture convention dedicated two hours to the hit ABC series and its spin-off Once Upon A Time in Wonderland.
Fans gathered in Ballroom 20 for the first hour, which was dedicated to the spin-off!
TV Line reported that the panel started off with the first few minutes of the pilot that got the crowd excited.
“The mission of Wonderland is to tell a story within this first season, a complete close-ended story,” said Once co-creator Adam Horowitz. “By the end of the first season, this particular story will be concluded and a new adventure will begin in season two with the same cast.”
In addition, the Once co-creators revealed that LOST alum Naveen Andrews will return to the Alphabet Network to play one of Disney’s fan-favorite villains: the crafty Jafar!
“I hope it will be something like you’ve never seen before,” Andrews said to the crowd.
In addition to Jafar, the main heroine Alice (Sophia Lowe) will also have to deal with the vicious Red Queen (Emma Rigby) and might face Cora, the Queen of Hearts (Barbara Hershey) as well. However, do not expect Alice to cower and roll into a ball.
“Was anything cooler than when she took that guy down with his legs and broke his neck?” series co-creator, Eddy Kitsis, asked the audience after the pilot aired. It seems like the creators will turn her into a warrior princess like Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin).
Speaking of the Disney Princess, Once Upon A Time’s royal family: Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas, Lana Parrilla, Emilie de Ravin, Colin O’Donoghue and Michael Raymond-James joined the co-creators on stage to reveal what is coming up for the third season.
This season will find the Charming Family (Goodwin, Morrison and Dallas) traveling to Neverland with their old enemies (Parrilla, O’Donoghue and Robert Carlyle) to save Henry (Jared S. Gilmore) from certain doom.
The main antagonist of this season is set to be Peter Pan. Wait a minute? Isn’t he supposed to be a hero? Not for this show!
“Peter Pan has a complicated motivation,” said Horowitz. “It’s a little different than you’ve seen before.”
Meanwhile, viewers can expect Regina to kill someone this season.
“My favorite kill is coming up in Season Three,” Parrilla said gleefully with an Evil Queen laugh. “It really is.”
While everyone is looking for Henry, Belle (de Ravin) was charged by Mr. Gold to protect Storybrooke. But do not expect her to fade into the background.
“What’s happening back in Storybrooke and what’s happening in Neverland will end up connecting in a surprising way,” Kitsis shared.
The panel wrapped up with a clip showing Leroy/Grumpy (Lee Arenberg) encountering a certain Little Mermaid.
