Looks like The Flash and Supergirl are not the only television shows to get a musical episode. We can now confirm that Once Upon A Time will be added to that list. Even earlier this year, the ABC company declined to comment on any talks of a musical episode.
Executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis officially announced the musical episode at the Atlanta TV Festival last Thursday at the Savannah College of Art and Design. The panel included cast members Jennifer Morrison (Emma) and Colin O’Donoghue (Hook) as well as Horowitz and Kitsis. Horowitz and Kitsis stated that production on the episode, which will feature original songs and most of the cast's own singing voices, will begin soon.
"We are really, really excited to do it," O'Donoghue told the crowd. "Out of any show, I think Once is the type of show that you can really embrace doing a musical episode and make it as musical-esque as you can."
Jennifer Morrison mentioned that it was only appropriate for Once Upon A Time to do a musical episode since most of the cast comes from some kind of musical background," she said. "We've been doing this for six years now, so it's fun to have something completely new to look forward to," Morrison added.
No official details have been announced as for when the episode will air or even what the basis of the episode will be. However, what we do know is that the episode will likely air in the springtime.
Until then, make sure you catch up on the current season of Once Upon A Time when it returns Sunday, March 5 at 8/7c on ABC. What do you think about having a Once Upon A Time musical? Let us know in the comments below!
