Parker found his love for music during a very traumatic time in his life. After becoming a victim of sexual assault at 14, Parker found his voice and quickly decided it was time for him to use his voice and music became an outlet for the young emerging pop star.

“Music gave me strength to get through everyday and look forward to tomorrow. If I can take someone else’s pain away for just three minutes – I’ve done my job!”

Parker sets the scene for the upcoming EP with an upbeat pop song with lyrics that will bring you back to that exact moment of heartbreak, wondering “what happened to us?” Matthews takes the listener on the journey of a fading relationship of what he thought was an authentic, passionate connection. Although Parker Matthews shows the dark realization of his fading narrative, he hopes his listeners realize the hidden optimism of the song and its upbeat sound. a place to grieve and then recover. He wants his listeners to find a safe haven in the song and its message of a rollercoaster relationship and then coming out on the other side feeling free, strong and better than ever.

“This record reflects on a time when I could see a seemingly infatuating relationship fade away. At first, it was like the rest of the world didn’t exist when we were together, spending long nights and countless hours just the two of us. However, over time, that spark faded, he eventually lost interest, and we stopped talking altogether. This song touches on the idea that people might say one thing but mean another, or just not deliver on their promises. I feel like the song’s fun, strong beat paired with its soulful lyrics helps listeners subconsciously identify those debilitating feelings of rejection, and I hope it helps them begin to heal, too.”
