As FX’s American Horror Story is gearing up for its fourth consecutive season- subtitled Freak Show –it’s been announced that none other than Grammy Hall of Famer Patti LaBelle will be stirring things up once the show debuts this October.
News of LaBelle’s involvement with the hit series crafted by Glee co-founders Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk comes by means of The Hollywood Reporter. The latest iteration of American Horror Story will set its focus unto the last American freak show, held in Jupiter, Florida in the 1950s.
All that we know of LaBelle’s role itself thus far is that she will not play a singer, nor will she sing at all. Instead, she’ll be playing a Jupiter local who may just be the first to discover the secrets of the clown killer, Twisty. Given her role’s nature, we cannot say whether her character- who just so happens to be Sidibe’s mother -will survive, but we are definitely ready for the miracle that her presence will bring to the show during her incoming four-episode stint.
A specific date hasn’t been pegged for the premiere of Freak Show, but again, it’ll arrive sometime in October. Jessica Lange will once again be playing lead with such prolific actors as The Hunger Games’ Wes Bentley and Fargo’s John Carroll Lynch joining the scene alongside she and LaBelle.
Patti LaBelle herself is the third musical icon to join the show’s cast, with Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine and Stevie Nicks having been featured beforehand.
