The Hollywood Reporter reports David Walton (‘Perfect Couples’ and most recently an arc on ‘New Girl’) is set to play the lead in NBC’s ‘About a Boy’.
The story, based on the original 1998 novel by Nick Hornby, later made into a film in 2002 (starring Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult), centres around a bachelor ‘man-child’ Will Freeman and his relationship with 12-year-old Marcus Brewer, who has problems at school and with his depressed mother Fiona at home.
‘Parenthood’ creator Jason Katims is said to be writing the pilot as well as acting as executive producer, and Jon Favreau will direct.
Hopefully NBC will have more success than the previous attempt to bring ‘About a Boy’ to TV by Fox in 2003.
