It has just been announced that earlier today Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Mission Impossible III, Moneyball) has completed a 10 day stint in a rehabilitation center for a long time drug problem.
According to his interview with gossip publication TMZ, Hoffman admitted to having abused prescription pills until finally having graduated into snorting heroin. While the habit only lasted a week according to Hoffman, he knew he had to check himself into rehab before the situation became any worse.
Friends and family had also urged the Oscar winner (Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, Capote, 2005) to seek treatment after seeing how quickly he had moved into a hardcore substance after a 23-year-long period of staying clean.
Since taking care of the problem and getting back under control, a source has told E! News that “he is doing well and is back to work”.
Hoffman has been cast as Plutarch Heavensbee in the new Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, set to release November 2013.
