Loud, quirky, and LGBTQ+ proud, with a talent for heart-on-sleeve storytelling and crystalline vocal work, Piera is an artist whose lyrics whimsically portray the realness of coming to terms with her identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Her latest single, “Love Is Meant For You”, the video for which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere, is a beautiful addition to her catalogue of work that highlights just how much delights in her own identity.
Simplistic yet powerful, the track shows off Piera’s talents for singing as well as writing a devastatingly personal and introspective tune. The song is a defiantly joyful anthem which will speak to anyone and everyone who has ever been in love. Activist messages are encoded in the song, something which this enthralling artist prides herself on at all times. Melding the innocent joy of being in love with the activism that comes from being a member of the LGBTQ+ community singing about their right to love is a balancing act which sounds insurmountable, but Piera effortlessly pulls it off.
In her own words, she wanted this song to: “…ooze love, joy and PRIDE! Anyone can love and be loved. As a proud member of the gorgeous LGBTQ+ community I’m so happy to share this track and most importantly give out love to you all. I believe it’s so important to reveal your true self and your true feelings to the one you like most. I know it’s freakin’ scary, but I believe it’s a risk worth taking!”
The accompanying music video is suitably bright and colourful, paying homage to the whole rainbow. We see Piera frolicking in a beachy town, walking along sunlit avenues and getting all the girls. The visuals give off a sweet and celebratory vibe, which fits perfectly with the delicate nature of the song itself. “Love Is Meant For You” is the Pride anthem we all deserve, and although Pride month is over, it also serves as a reminder that we don’t have to and shouldn’t stop being proud of our LGBTQ+ identities.
