On both sides of the pond the battle of the baby bumps continues with a number of celebrities rapidly approaching their due dates. As the pitter patter of little feet gets closer and closer, the baby showers are starting to be thrown and the invite everyone is hoping to see arrive in their post is for the latest British Royal. And who better to throw a baby shower in style than party planner extraordinaire, and aunt-to-be, Pippa Middleton?
Not only has it been revealed that little sister Pippa, is organising Kate’s, the Duchess of Cambridge, shower, but the shower will be the first-ever held for a Royal baby.
A friend of Kate’s has told The Sun, “It [a baby shower] isn’t royal tradition but Kate isn’t a traditional Royal”.
The event, to be held with family and friends, has even received the blessing of the babe’s great-grandmother, the Queen. Kate’s friend explains, “A baby shower wouldn’t normally happen if you’re in the Royal Family, but there is now a modern way of thinking. It will be a great day for everyone and Kate is doing this with the blessing of the Queen”.
In addition to Pippa organising the event, brother James, who runs a baking firm, is reportedly in charge of the cake – a baby dummy. And guests will not be leaving empty handed. Each will be presented with a goody, which will apparently include gifts such as candles from stores like Jo Malone and The White Company.
The date of the event has not been revealed, though it is likely to take place at the Middleton family home in Berkshire.
While waiting for that elusive invite in the mail, one can only spend time trying to work out what gift to get for a baby who has everything he or she could possible need or desire and then some. Well, they say you can never have enough baby blankets.
Kate is due in the middle of July.
