Played Our Faces, You Have: No New Star Wars Secrets Revealed At D23

Fans gathered in Anaheim, California to celebrate their love of Disney at their annual fan club gathering: Disney 23 (D23).

While loyal Disney followers were treated to upcoming previews of potential box office hits including Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, Frozen and Maleficent, there was not any news on the latest Star Wars reboot.

Multiple outlets including Entertainment Weekly, the Huffington Post and Vulture have reported that fans were ticked as they were given basic information from several Disney higher-ups.

“We’re just as excited as you are about Star Wars: Episode VII,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger during the Friday animation panel.  "In fact, we’re speechless. At least, we’re going to be somewhat speechless at this expo because we aren’t ready to share too many details just yet."

Iger’s statement rang true during the D23’s live-action panel where a majority of fans and journalists expected some game-changing announcements would be made…but they were left disappointed and bitter as Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn stated that J.J. Abrams will direct the seventh episode and legendary composer John Williams would compose the score.

"I really wish I could tell you more. It will come soon,” said Horn.

Immediately after the event, Twitter exploded with tweets from those in attendance.

“Horn confirms Abrams/Arndt/Williams for STAR WARS,” tweeted Box Office Mojo’s Ray Subers.  “then says he can’t say anything else. Crowd very unhappy about this. #

“Alan Horn says he can’t reveal anything about Star Wars,” wrote Slash Film’s Peter Sciretta.  “Boooooooooooooo #
