PREMIERE: Ethan Payne Showcases Vulnerability In New Single, “Blind Man.”

Blind Man is a song that I wrote about my father. I was really young when my parents divorced. My dad lived the majority of that time out west and I only saw him a couple of times a year. The title “blind man”  was used because I’m not sure that my father really knew what he had when he had my brothers and I,” explains Ethan.

You may remember Ethan Payne from American Idol. Since then, Ethan’s been working on building his craft and showcasing his vulnerability throughout his songwriting.

With the move to Nashville in May, I felt this was the best time to release the single because of my transition to an adult. Looking back and realizing that “I turned out just fine”, as the lyrics of my song read.  That I managed to learn all the things that a father teaches his son even without his presence,” explains Ethan.

Throughout the lyrics, you feel the emotion and pain that Payne felt throughout. Opening the song, there’s a man and woman arguing which represents Payne’s parents divorce. For the cover art, the hands are his oldest brother and nephew. There’s no doubt that this new single showcases Ethan’s talent, but also shows the pain that he felt throughout the years.

I can say total time in the studio between laying vocals and working on production was well over 10 hours.  This song is so personal to me, I wanted it to be just right. The melody of the song started off way different.  After spending time with my producers Elliot Didur and Jason Wyatt, we decided to produce the song in a way like I was sitting down talking to my father and pouring out my feelings about not having him around growing up,” explains Payne.

You can listen to the emotion filled single below.
