Previously on Pretty Little Liars, Spencer refuses to leave Radley, telling her friends that she feels safer there. She is also still not convince that Toby is alive, and her friends set out to prove that to her by breaking into the morgue. Hanna faces Caleb drama as Jamie gets fired from his church gig and Caleb lashes out at him over it. Aria deals with Ezra drama as Malcolm gets sucked into A’s games when he is taken by A to the carnival. Spencer uncovers some truths while hanging out in Radley and by episode’s end is revealed to part of the ‘A’ team. The other girls, almost catching the Red Coat, learn that A messed with Jamie’s job and that the police have found another dead body.
This season has been full of twists, heartbreaks, and turns and now it all comes to an end tonight in this season’s spring finale. Will all our questions over the past few months be answered? Will we be left more questions than answers? Without much ado, let’s get started!
Last week, we saw Spencer hell bent on staying put at Radley. Tonight, we find her being greeted upon her released (looking fab, by the way) by the other liars, Aria, Emily, and Hanna. As for her fellow A team partner, Mona, she is sitting in a grody basement with a person in a hood, plotting what to do next. Mona’s stepsister, on the other hand, is in a panic, looking for her, when she receives a text from A who is spying on her.
Hanna, meanwhile, is lobbying to get a bit closer to Ezra (for Aria) and decides she can do by babysitting Malcolm. Ezra agrees to this and gives her a test to see if she and Malcolm are a good match. As for Ezra, he has been given 24 hours to decide whether he’ll take a job he needs, a fact that he keeps from Aria until her dear old father clues her in (way to go, Pops!). Aria takes this revelation as a sign and in a move that caught me by surprise as it was wise beyond her years, sees the writing on the wall and thinks that they’ve lost whatever it was that brought them together. “It shouldn’t be this hard”, she tells Fitz. Fitz still thinks there’s hope but “I need to move on and so do you”, Aria tells him. After sharing a passionate kiss in the school hallway, they split up for good as he is now her new substitute teacher (another one bites the dust!).
As for Spencer, her hopes to see Toby again as he was the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back, are not in vain for he is alive and well (Oh Keegan Allen, do not leave us ever again!). He waltzes into the diner where he scheduled to meet A and finds Spencer again, wearing the infamous hood. “Everything I’ve done is so I can protect you,” he tries to explain to his beloved (I KNEW IT! Excuse me while I go fistpump and dance around!). They each tell the other about their deals with Mona and then go to a hotel room for some “quality time” (HOT DAMN). Neither one of them know who Red Coat is but are both determined to bring her and Mona down.
Back to Hanna and her shenanigans, she is talking to Malcolm and learns a bit more the person that picked him up from his class. He goes through Hanna’s phone and picks out Spencer as A. After this little reveal, Hanna and company decide to set up their bestie. Hanna dons a red coat, which Spencer catches a glimpse off and chases after. The girls catch up with Spencer, who spills all and clues them in that the party tomorrow night is a set up.
In a move out of left field, Jenna (remember her? Bitch can see now!) pops back into town and turns to be a lesbian (SERIOUSLY?!) as she meets up with her new love, Shana, Paige’s ex (where the hell is Paige, btw?). Shana learns from Jenna that she is losing her vision once more and the two are later seen by Emily with Melissa at Toby’s old abandoned house (dun, dun, dun).
The night of the party comes and Mona, Spencer, and Toby are all waiting for the girls at the house for the party (they are actually sneaking in through an upstairs window). Toby takes Spencer outside to deal with her but actually tells her what to do should something go wrong. As they are chatting, the other girls surround Mona. Toby unfortunately get clocks out (he’s ok) while someone sets the house on fire with the girls inside (oh crap).
Inside the burning house, Mona is panicking as there is no way out. She tells the other girls that she has no clue who Red Coat is and that she just got sucked into the game that does not seem to have an end in sight. The girls eventually all become unconscious due to the smoke and all hope is lost for a moment.
Spencer is still outside when she catches a glimpse of Red Coat as she saves the girls from the fire (Bitch has a heart?). As the girls regain conscious, Mona and Hanna both swear they saw Alison’s face, which Spencers cosigns on (who didn’t see that coming?). Emily is still not a believer on the drive home but the others try to process the thought that their “so called” friend might still be alive.
Their moment of process is cut short as they spot Wilden’s cop car, which has been dragged out of the lake (Really?!). They approach it and notice that the video is still playing on a loop, not Ashley hitting him but Jenna and Shauna moving his body afterwards (WAIT A MINUTE!). There’s more; something is in Wilden’s trunk and from the looks of the Liars faces, it’s not good (and unfortunately for us, we will have to wait till June to see what it is! UGH).
At the end of the episode, we are treated once again to a hand bursting out of Ali’s dirt grave like before but with a twist this time: someone is there to grab it and pulled the little schemer to safety!
Well that’s it for this season of Pretty Little Liars! All I can say is June cannot come fast enough for me and if it is really is Alison doing all of this, bitch better be ready for some payback! See you all in June!
