If the memory you have of the Bennet sisters is that of a domesticated, but oftentimes playful, quintet of women, you’d better look again.

Entertainment Weekly  has released the first-look photo from the zombie-parody, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s eponymous novel.

The story is a genre mash-up of Jane Austen’s widely spread novel and hordes of zombies, which have been wiping out the countryside for nearly 70 years by the time the movie catches on. Inside Movies‘ Lindsey Bahr points out that Austen’s five heroines “aren’t just eligible singles anymore; they’re sword- and knife-wielding martial artists”.

At least thirteen different adaptations of Pride and Prejudice have been produced so far, according to a list organized by PopWatch.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has been dragged randomly in development for nearly five years at this point, but Deadline reports that it is on track to be out in 2015.
