In case you were completely ignoring the title when you clicked on this story, there ARE spoilers ahead because YES, someone died in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Blame Joss Whedon.

Now, unless you’d like that name revealed to you…move along and find something else to read.

My expectation for Age Of Ultron, like most of us Marvel comics and/or movie lovers, was that it would be sheer jaw-dropping action-packed superhero goodness with a touch of humor…and that it would blow its predecessor out of the water.

However, I was not there to watch one of my new favorites die onscreen.

Sadly, that’s exactly what happened. I spent the last 20 minutes of the movie in denial as I desperately hoped Vision had some mystical power that could bring my beloved Quicksilver back to life (I’ve never read the comics–don’t judge me).

Kevin Feige, accessory to writer/director Whedon’s bloody act of murder–I mean, Marvel producer–explained to MTV why Quicksilver (birth name Pietro Maximoff) had to bite the bullet (awful pun…I’m sorry).

“It adds stakes to the ending of the film,” he said.

It’s also the perfect way “to show repercussions to Ultron’s actions, and also in a way to solidify Scarlet Witch’s character, and Wanda’s arc in the movie and where we’ll see her in the next films,” he added.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who happens to be one of my favorite actors ever, to make my victimization even worse) portrays the speedy superhero, marking it his short-lived debut in Marvel territory.

That’s not all. Apparently, Quicksilver died in EVERY SINGLE VERSION of the Age of Ultron script.

The cruelty.

Marvel did, however, make every attempt not to spoil the ending for viewers  by releasing alternate versions of the script that misled readers into believing Quicksilver survived until the very end, and even filming a different ending with the same idea.

Well played, Marvel.

I’m still expecting you guys to pay for my pain and suffering. See you in court!
