This will come as a surprise to no one: Sentai Filmworks has licensed Re:_Hamatora for home video distribution.

Sentai’s announcement about Re:_Hamatora isn’t that surprising considering they have already licensed and released the series predecessor, Hamatora, on Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday (Sept. 22). The highly-anticipated sequel to Hamatora premiered last summer and streamed on Crunchyroll while it aired in Japan. Although the second season failed to provide the same amount of thrills the first one did, it still managed to entertain fans till the very end.

Re:_Hamatora picks up three months after the events at the end of Hamatora, and our favorite Hamatora detectives are forced to deal with a shocking betrayal that serves as the catalyst to their potential downfall. Re:_Hamatora may have suffered narratively from time to time, but one thing it got right was its opening theme, titled “Sen no Tsubasa.”

Sentai definitely picked a gem of an anime to license and if you haven’t seen Hamatora & Re:_Hamatora, please do so as soon as possible. Despite my complaints, the series is quite entertaining.
