Since getting picked up by TBS last year, Cougar Town’s ratings have declined, although this is understandable due to it being broadcast on cable. This hasn’t stopped the Time Warner owned company renewing the show for a fifth season. Season 5 will comprise of 13-episodes due to air in 2014. Cougar Town has been receiving a respectable 2.8m weekly viewers on average.
TBS president commented on the renewal saying “Cougar Town has been everything we hoped it would be: a smart, big-hearted, laugh-out-loud comedy that shines a bright light on the TBS brand…This season, the brilliant cast and immensely creative production team on Cougar Town have crafted their best episodes yet, and we couldn’t be happier inviting them back for more.”
Additonally, Cougar Town protagonist and former Friends star Courtney Cox, took to Twitter to express her joy upon the news of a fifth season.
