Fans of the Dark Knight trilogy mark September 30 in your calendars as Warner Bros has announced that as the release date for The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray. And the title is certainly aptly named.
The Collector’s Edition will be a six-disc set containing all three Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale Batman trilogy films (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises) with all their current special features. However, in addition to all these, they will include two all-new featurettes, exclusive collectible memorabilia (such as a large 48-page trilogy photo book and a letter from director, Christopher Nolan) and UltraViolet copies to download and stream in high definition.
Digital Spy provides an outline of the two new featurettes. The first, “The Fire Rises” takes fans behind-the-scenes of the trilogy with a special focus on the impact of the films. It will include special contributions from Guillermo Del Toro, Damon Lindelof, Michael Mann, Richard Roeper and Zack Snyder.
The second featurette, Christopher Nolan & Richard Donner: A Conversation, involves Nolan and Superman: The Movie’s director, Richard Donner, discussing their experiences of making a superhero film and how they approached bringing their respective iconic comic book characters to the big screen.
What is sure to be a hit among fans young and old are the Mattel Hot Wheels versions of the Tumbler, Batpod and The Bat. There are also Collectible Mondo art cards of Scarecrow, Joker, Bane, Harvey Dent and Ra’s al Ghul.
Though not due out till September 30, The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector’s Edition is available to pre-order now.
