Review: Time To 'Snack' On DeQn Sue's New EP | DeQn Sue

Singer/songwriter DeQn Sue has released her new EP entitled Snack this past summer. I have had the pleasure to listen to it, so here is my song-by-song review.

Song #1: "Aspire"

When I first started listening to this song, I really enjoyed the upbeat music.  At times, I felt there was a bit of an Amy Winehouse vibe, as well. Throughout the entire song, I felt there was a great message: If you want more for your life, go out and do something about it. Don't hold yourself back and settle for anything less.

Song #2: "Bloody Monster"

This song has probably become one of my favorites. I feel like DeQn Sue is telling a defiant story through this song. If this song were to play in any night club I could see many people dancing and enjoying this song.

Song #3: "Calimazoo"

I like how this song is a bit mellower than the first two songs, which shows her versatility in the different music genres. I really enjoyed how vivid she is in using imagery in this song. If I close my eyes, I can picture everything she is singing in this song. I feel like I am right there with her.

Songs #4 & #5: "Glass-Long"/"Glass-Short"

At first listen, I wasn't too keen on this song. I was kind of wondering what the meaning was behind this song. After listening to the song again, I realized she was singing as if humans were a piece of glass, describing the glass and not wanting the glass to get broken. The EP features both a long and shorter version of the song.

Overall, I think this was a fantastic EP. DeQn Sue has an amazing voice, and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for her music. The emotions that DeQn Sue puts into her music is so powerful and so raw that I feel any listener of her EP would agree to.

DeQn Sue has some wonderful messages in her songs.  Throughout the EP you can tell what she is trying to say through the music. From Aspire, wanting to do  more with your life that just go out there and do it don't be scared to let yourself go. To Bloody Monster, a dark experience that needed to be talked about. To traveling to Calimazoo and enjoying the ride as she whisks you away.

If you haven't listened to DeQn Sue's EP Snack I would highly suggest it. The music is phenomenal and the artist is even better!
