Roddy Piper, WWE superstar and wrestling legend, has died at the age of 61.
Piper (who’s real name is Roderick George Toombs) died of natural causes at his home in Hollywood today. He battled Hodgkins Lymphoma back in 2006, but announced he was cancer free last November.
In an email exchange with TMZ, Piper’s longtime rep Jay Schacter confirmed his passing:
“Rod passed peacefully in his sleep last night,”
I am shocked and beyond devastated.”
Roddy was also previously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He had also performed in the main event of the very first Wrestlemania.
He is survived by his wife, 3 daughters and one son.
