Rumour has been swirling around for some time now that the Girls co-star Adam Driver was going to be playing a “villain” in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII. Of course we all assumed that “villain” meant that he’d be evil enough to be a Sith Lord, or at least his disciple. That however might not be entirely the case, and the collapse of Driver’s soul might be the backbone of the new Star Wars trilogy that Abrams is planning to begin.

Jedi News cites a source that has told them that Driver will be playing the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia. According to the source, Jacen Solo (also a twin brother to Jaina Solo) has been lured to the dark side and efforts to save him will be the driving force of the film.

None of this has been any way confirmed by anyone associated with Star Wars, but this bit of information does add to the picture we have been piecing together about the direction of Episode VII. What’s been rumoured so far is that Harrison Ford’s character was going to have a bigger role in the development of the story. If the story at the heart of Episode VII is for the soul of Jacen Solo, I think this helps us instantly connect with the power struggle. Plus, it does give Ford more to work with than we might have originally considered.
