Who would want to throw shade at Rebel Wilson?! Russell Crowe that’s who! Wilson recently appeared on The Tonight Show told us a tale of how she encountered her fellow Aussie Actor. Wilson was the recipient of the Nicole Kidman Scholarship at the Australian Theatre for Young People. And no it’s not what you’re thinking, she did not beat Crowe for the honor.
Wilson had attempted to thank Kidman but the kind gesture quickly blew up in her face! She told Leno, “One time in Sydney, I saw her having dinner with Russell Crowe and I go, ‘OK, now’s my chance. I’m going to say thank you,’” Wilson, 27, recalled. “I went up to them but, before I could say anything, Russell Crowe turns to me and says, ‘F—- off!’”
You would think Wilson would use her humor to defuse the situation but she was too shocked to do anything at all. Instead she hung her head and walked away. She did take a moment on Leno to finally thank Kidman ending the story with, “But thanks, Nicole!”
So what did Wilson actually receive with her Nicole Kidman Scholarship? An all-expense paid trip to New York to study comedy. She even got an apartment and access to Broadway shows! I wish I had a scholarship like that! You can catch Rebel hosting the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday!
