RYALS Shares His Latest Single “NMFA”

Hard work, determination and the willingness to take a risk really can make a world of difference. RYALS knows this all too well. As a talented performer in his home country of Ukraine – he released his first album State Of Liberty there and went on to see much of the world as an entertainer on a cruise ship – he came to realise that, as a gay man, his country was considerably far behind many others when it came to accepting homosexuality and allowing people to be truly and unashamedly themselves. From there, he made the daunting decision to emigrate to America, wanting to explore and enjoy the freedom that came with not having to hide who you are or feel guilty about it.

He’s since channelled the many challenges and struggles he went through on the journey to get to where he is now through his music, all of it culminating in his forthcoming EP, Forward. Before that drops however, PopWrapped are delighted to premiere his new single “NFMA” (Not My Friend Anymore).

RYALS says of the track: “’NMFA’ is my second single from my second EP ‘Forward’. This EP is a collection of my life’s circumstances that I had to overcome in order to move forward. These circumstances shaped my perception of life, my identity, and each time made me stronger and wiser. NMFA is an experience of being in a toxic relationship, and the ability to leave despite that strong co-dependency which, with lack of relationship experience, is often mistaken for love.”

He goes on to add: “My hope here is that this simple mantra of NMFA that repeats “not my friend anymore, not my friend anymore”, with an 80’s influenced up-tempo beat and synths, will be able to help you put your head up, take a deep breath, wipe those tears off, dance your heart out, and get your power back. You can be the one who breaks the cycle of abuse – whether it’s verbal, emotional, or physical. Let your broken heart begin the process of healing and learning to love again.”
