Sacha Baron Cohen Drops Out Of Freddie Mercury Biopic

Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing the Sacha Baron Cohen’s portrayal of the late Queen lead singer.

Deadline.com reports the issue as a creative one: Cohen wanted the film to be an R-rated look at Freddie Mercury‘s life and death, while the band wanted a PG feature. 

A few months ago, the site also reported that Cohen wanted Tom Hooper to consider directing the biopic as his next project following Les Miserables. Hooper stated that Cohen is not only one of the best comedians on the planet, but has also “proven that he’s got tremendous acting ability,” making him the obvious choice to play Freddie.

We’ll have to wait and see who will play the legendary Freddie Mercury now. Who would you like to see?
