Having grown up listening to an array of artists covering a number of genres, Samantha Margret’s passion for music has only grown stronger as she’s gotten older, and and been showcased to music fans everywhere as she’s made her own mark on and in the industry.
As an artist who loves to play unplugged, she’s already earned herself numerous comparisons to Sara Bareilles in particular, but she’s also an undeniable talent in her own right; making and producing music and working as her own band – thanks to her trusted trigger pad.
Her new single “Saucy”, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere, blends her own brilliant indie-pop with a rap ‘interlude’ from Son of Paper. The song is both contemporary – reflecting the complexities of emotions -and decidedly tongue-in-cheek courtesy of multiple sauce puns featuring condiments like sriracha and wasabi, among others, making “Saucy” perfect for anyone needing a track to make them smile, perhaps even laugh, during this ongoing pandemic.
Asked about the inspiration to and story behind the track, Samantha says: “I’m honestly amazed that when I told my co-writer, Eva Snyder, that I wanted to write a song called “Saucy” where all the verses were sauce puns, she stayed in the room. Sometimes, I just have to set down the weight of the world and remind myself that life can be fun, and joyful, and saucy. And, so can music!”
She goes on to add: “I write a lot of intense music about heavy topics, but humans need balance. That’s where songs like “Saucy” come in handy. From writing, to the rap feature, to brainstorming graphics, this song has brought me so many joyful surprises.”
