From 28th August to 7th September, the 70th Venice Film Festival will be taking place at none other than Venice, Italy.
Being the oldest international film festival; Venice will be kicking off by premiering Gravity. Alfonso Cuarón’s Sci-Fi space film features two big Hollywood names; Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. Gravity is a story of two astronauts who get stranded in space after getting separated from their spacecraft.

Despite opening the festival; Clooney and Bullock aren’t the only Hollywood actors making an appearance at arguably the most prestigious festivals in the film world. Man of the moment, James Franco will be premiering his film Child of God, Philomena starring Dame Judi Dench will also be there along with Terry Gillian’s drama entitled The Zero Theorem featuring Oscar winners, Matt Damon and Christoph Waltz.
Finally, the few films closing the competition are:
The Armstrong’s Lie – Alex Gibney’s documentary about that was initially about the comeback of seven-time Tour De France winner, Lance Armstrong. However, when the truth of Armstrong’s doping came out and which resulted in a federal investigation, the documentary took a new path.
Locke – Hummingbird director Steven Knight, writes and directs his second film, Locke. Tom Hardy and Olivia Coleman star in a film where a man’s life unravels during a 90-minute race against time.
