Schitt’s Creek: 06×14, Happy Ending

The Roses have been through a lot living in Schitt’s Creek for the past few years. Now it’s time for everyone to get their happy ending.

The Roses have been through a lot living in Schitt’s Creek for the past few years. Now it’s time for everyone to get their happy ending. The entire season has been leading up to the series finale of Schitt’s Creek, David’s wedding. David is nothing if not a perfectionist and rain threatens to ruin David’s perfect day.

Everyone tries to keep David calm. Patrick arranges a massage for David, which ends with an unintentional happy ending, Johnny, Stevie and Patrick search for a new indoor venue, and Ronnie and Jocelyn take care of flowers. It’s a true town effort to make David and Patrick’s day perfect. Well, okay, Ronnie only cares about David’s day, not Patrick’s. Surprisingly, David does remain calm, only freaking out a little bit, despite things not going as planned. The town hall is the new venue, which is very much not David’s aesthetic, Alexis has chosen to wear a white floor-length gown to the black and white themed wedding, and Moira is going to officiate the wedding since the haikuist can’t get to town.

Moira goes off to write her speech for the wedding. Alexis comes in to see her mom and gets upset thinking about how she won’t be able to just pop next door and see her mom anymore. She wonders if it’s good that they lost their money. The two share a sweet hug. After having been an unstoppable mother-daughter actor-publicist team for the last little while, Moira’s strong walls start to break down.

Now it’s time for David and Patrick to get married. The ceremony begins with the Jazzagals standing around the perimeter of the town hall singing “Precious Love”, which is just beautiful. Then officiant Moira Rose makes her grand entrance. She’s wearing a papal outfit, complete with papal tiara-esque hat and crazy long blond wig. Truly, such a Moira thing to do. Johnny and Stevie follow Moira. In the back, Alexis is freaking out because she accepts that it looks like she’s wearing a wedding dress. All she wanted to do was impress David. David assures her the wedding was ruined before she got there and that she continually impresses him. Not wanting to get too sentimental, David asks her to please walk him down the aisle before people lose interest. Together, they walk down the aisle to “Simply the Best.”

At the altar, Moira can barely get out her speech before she breaks down. It’s a speech for David as much as it is for her family and the town. David and Patrick exchange vows. Patrick tells David how much he loves him and sings Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby.” David gives a beautiful speech about how safe and loved he feels when he’s with Patrick and reminds Patrick that he’s his real happy ending. It’s a ceremony that is perfect for this couple, this town, and this show. No matter how David might feel about it.

Early the next morning, Johnny and Moira take off for California. David, Alexis, Stevie, and Patrick meet them at the motel to say goodbye. It’s not that early since they didn’t sleep the night before. There are hugs and tears and “I love yous” and “I’m proud of yous”. Moria reminds the kids to ship her girls (wigs) in a temperature-controlled cargo container. Johnny hands Stevie the room key and tells her that room 7 needs turndown service. On their way out of town, Johnny stops for one last look at the town sign. Instead of the Schitt family, it’s now the Rose family on the sign. It’s perfect.

Best wishes and warmest regards.
