Seth Michael’s newest single “She Got a Thing” is sure to delight country fans young and old with its mix of modern pop beats and a traditional country backing band. The song starts off with a slide guitar riff and a pop drum beat that combine to create a great opening hook for the song. The first verse starts out somewhat subdued as Seth sings about all the different things that his girlfriend likes.
The song builds as the band comes in and Seth’s vocals begin to rise. Michael sings about how lucky he is that she’s got a thing for “ holes-in-jeans,” and “two left feet.” The chorus closes with Seth singing “Thank God she got a thing for me” and then the opening hook comes back in. The second verse opens with slightly more powerful instrumentation than the opening verse. Seth sings about how he loves this girl so much and he can’t explain why she makes him feel that way.
The second chorus comes in even more triumphantly than the first. Everything is bigger than the original chorus. The slide guitars, drums, and electric guitars are cranked as Seth sings about how much he loves his girlfriend. The chorus ends as a killer electric guitar solo comes in and the band carries on. As the guitar solo fades out, the chorus comes back but this time it’s much more subtle.
The instruments and vocals are much more subdued than they were the first two times. It seems as though the song is about to end but then the vocal and band come in more powerfully than they have at any other point in the song. Seth and the ensemble ride this energy until the song fades out with the original opening hook.
