Seth Meyers is teaming up with the producer of his future talk show, due in February, for The Awesomes, a superhero cartoon series due on Hulu August 1st.

Meyers said, “When Mike and I started working together on Saturday Night Live in 2001, one of the first things we bonded over was our love of comics”.

The idea for The Awesomes came in 2006 but, it took awhile to get going but after talks with various TV outlets didn’t work out, now Hulu have come to the rescue. Ten serialized will be posted, one each Thursday, after a two-episode premiere.

The series, created by Meyers and Mike Shoemaker, follows ‘America’s Greatest Superhero Team,’ led by Mr.Awesome.

When he retires in the opener after a 70-year-crime-fighting run, his team quits too. This leaves his brainy son Prock (Meyers), also known as Professor Doctor Awesome, to re-assemble a new one.

Meyers’ Saturday Night Live pals Kenan Thompson, Bill Hader, Taran Killam and Rachel Dratch, as well as Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation), Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project) are voicing characters in the show.

Shoemaker who produces Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, is staying in the 12:35 a.m. slot when Fallon replaces Jay Leno next February and Meyers will remain on SNL through the first half of the season.
