Boss man no more! CEO Joe Kennedy has decided to step down after being with the Internet radio giant for a decade. Kennedy will hand over the reigns when a successor is named, it was announced on Thursday.
The honcho released a statement saying, “As I near the start of my 10th year at the helm of Pandora, I am incredibly proud of the team and what we have accomplished in redefining radio. … There is a tremendous market opportunity ahead and I look forward to continuing to work with all the great people at Pandora to keep driving the business forward.”
Kennedy’s time at Pandora was far from quiet and easy. He was part of the company’s rise to the champ of Internet radio, congressional hearings, fights over royalties and Pandora’s expansion to a publicly traded company back in 2011. Pandora’s founder Tim Westergren will be staying on with the company and the board of directors will be looking for another CEO in the meantime.
