If you’re anything like me, you may still be wishing for more Shameless after last nights season four finale.

SPOILER ALERT!

The episode was filled with highs and lows, much like Ian’s new heartbreaking battle with bipolar disorder. Mickey finally expresses how much he cares for Ian, opting to watch over him until he’s better. I seriously hope those two can make their relationship work.

Frank was given a new liver, and towards the very end decides to regress to his typical self, drinking alcohol straight from the bottle while yelling at God that he’s still alive. I made a slight observation last night about that man; previously Frank mentions that he began drinking at 12 years old and never was sober after that, which is mirrored in an emotional way as he eggs his youngest son on to take a drink with him possibly setting him up as a Frank Jr. Can’t help but feel bad for poor Carl.

Just as you think the show is ending, during the credit scene it cuts to a car pulling up outside of the Gallagher home, with a man staring longingly toward the house. Who is it you may be asking? It’s the return of Jimmy-Steve, who now is apparently known as Jack! Fans were left distraught last season with the inclination of his death, and the show-runners managed to pull off a surprising and happy twist even leaving the cast in shock.

Many of the cast took to twitter to react to a twist that was even hidden from them.

The season four finale managed to be its most watched finale thus far, even against a strong night of television. It’s great to see that it’s getting the attention it deserves.

Season five is already confirmed and will return to Showtime next year.
