The latest installment in the extraterrestrial science fiction franchise Predator has begun filming in Vancouver, Canada. This fourth film is being written by Shane Black (The Nice Guys, Iron Man 3) and Fred Dekker. Black will also be taking on directing duties and took to Twitter to share a first look at The Predator cast.
The Predator stars Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Boyd Holbrook (Narcos), Jacob Tremblay (Room), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), and Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu, Key & Peele). Brown is best recognized for The People v. O.J. Simpson and This Is Us. The wording of Black’s tweet called this a “partial cast,” so there are still characters to introduce, including Thomas Jane’s role and the rumored casting of 50 Cent. Based on this confirmed cast, there should be a good mix of drama, action, and comedy.
Shane Black also commented on Twitter about the R rating, saying “spines bleed” and “PG-13 is for pussies”. This didn’t really need clarifying, as all three previous installments in the franchise have been rated R. Since the success of Deadpool, it would seem studios want to hype up their R-rated offerings.
And, just to be clear… PG-13 is for pussies. Spines bleed… a lot.

In an interview with We Got This Covered, Holbrook told fans to expect “something totally new” from this Predator film. While “keeping within the realm of Predator,” the film will have a whole new story. He also suspected there won’t be a Schwarzenegger cameo because it is too much of a gimmick. Holbrook will be co-starring alongside Hugh Jackman in Logan on March 3, another R-rated genre film.
The Predator is currently slated for a US theatrical release on February 9, 2018. Of this cast, who are you most excited to see in action? Discuss in the comments below! Be sure to follow director Shane Black on Twitter for more behind the scenes and updates from the set of The Predator.
