Syfy has just confirmed that a sequel is already in the works for their disaster spoof film, Sharknado.

The film that starred Tara Reid (The Big Lebowski) recently premiered on the network to an average audience of about 1.4 million viewers. Syfy executive Thomas Vitale announced Sharknado 2 on Wednesday (July 17) by saying: “Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm – on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel,” reports the Digital Spy.

To mix it up a bit, the sequel (or prequel) will take the shark infested funnels of terror to the Big Apple. Syfy is promising for another fun ride, “What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun. We’ll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn’t want our fans to worry they wouldn’t get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year.”

The network is also asking YOU, the fans, to submit your most creative (and most likely ridiculous) ideas to help next movie in a new contest. You can tweet your ideas to @SyfyMovies using #Sharknado.
