Sherlock has had the strangest journey with its fans for the last few years. First, there was the season that got us all hooked. Then, there was the season that led to us thinking Sherlock Holmes had died. Then there was last season, which made Johnlock shippers cry, and now, finally, this last season we just received.
The problem with it is that fans can’t decide if they liked it or not. Or better yet, if it is an acceptable finale for their beloved show. Currently, we don’t know if there will ever be a Season 5 of Sherlock and, if “The Final Problem” was the last episode of the series, would we, as fans, be happy?
The reviews are honestly extremely mixed. Half the internet loved it and thinks it would be okay for the show to end, but the other half was mad with the finale. Personally, I thought it was a great episode and made me fall in love with Sherlock once more. I don’t want it to end because I want more amazing adventures for John Watson and Sherlock Holmes. Sadly, I may be in the minority with that opinion.
The argument is that many thought the episode lacked logic and just didn’t make much sense. While that opinion is theirs to hold, there is the argument that we were in and out of flashbacks and a distorted reality, so, of course, everything wasn’t going to be crystal clear.
Again, I’m in the minority in saying I like the episode, but, hey!, I also love Moffat’s Doctor Who, so maybe that has something to do with it. No matter if you liked the episode or not, we all hope that Sherlock comes back for another season. It is a great show and the cast seems to love making it.
