Are you ready for more news from your favorite mutants? Previously, we told you that Professor X himself, James McAvoy, hinted that the next installment of the X-Men movies will be filming this summer. Now, more news has come out of Xavier’s Home for Gifted Children -- namely, who is rumored to direct.

While this news is still unconfirmed, it’s being said that writer Simon Kinberg is going to be at the helm of the latest X-Men film. Kinberg has previously co-written and co-produced the last three films in the series and also has production credits for everything in FOX’s comic book film universe since X-Men: First Class, including Fantastic Four, Deadpool, and the upcoming Logan.

Though the director may be unconfirmed, Sophie Turner, who plays Jean Grey, has previously stated that she expects to be filming something in the X-Men universe this summer. This is, of course, assumed to be a movie surrounding the Dark Phoenix Saga, which will hopefully be out sometime later this year. Below is the synopsis released by My Entertainment World about the upcoming film.

“Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-Men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!”

The X-Men series will not only be continuing in movie form but also on the small screen, as more information has been revealed about Fox’s upcoming TV series. It was recently announced that Jamie Chung would be taking on the role of Blink in the upcoming series.
