You’d think Captain America himself, Chris Evans, would know the title of the 2015 Avengers sequel wouldn’t you? Well apparently he does not, according to an interview with MTV.com.
So much has come out from this past weekend at Comic-Con and in case you missed it, Joss Whedon revealed the title and main villain of the upcoming Avengers sequel. In the Marvel panel that took place on Friday, July 20, Whedon presented the news in the form a promo video. The promo revealed the face of Ultron and then came the title: The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Both Evans and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) seemed to be out of the loop when it came to the sequel title and villain. When Josh Horowitz of MTV revealed the title to the superhero co-stars, Evans replied, “Who’s Ultron?” Johansson didn’t seem to have an idea either.
For those of you who are like Evans and Johansson, Ultron is a creation of Dr. Henry Pym aka Ant-Man. In an experiment gone wrong, Ultron was a robot who inherited an irrational hatred for the human race. In the Marvel universe, after every battle, Ultron has evolved, seemingly becoming stronger after every upgrade.
In an interview with MovieWeb, Whedon also went on to clarify that the movie version of Ultron will be different than the one told in the comics.
“We’re doing our own version of the origin story for Ultron.” So that means we probably won’t be seeing Ant-Man in the sequel that will release before his own feature film.
You can expect to see the The Avengers: Age of Ultron in summer of 2015! Sounds like a long wait, but don’t fret, we have Thor: The Dark World coming to theaters in November and Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014!
