Get ready Star Wars fans to be spending a lot of your summer in the dark starting from 2015. That’s right, today at CinemaCon Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm announced what we’ve long know, that Star Wars: Episode VII will be released in cinemas in the summer of 2015.
However, in news to excite any fan of the franchise, they also revealed that every summer following that a new Star Wars film will be released, alternating each new trilogy film with a standalone film. While there has been no word on how many standalone films fans can expect, if it follows this format there will be at least two. This means a new Star Wars film in cinemas every summer from 2015-2019 at least.
