Hot on the heels of the announcement earlier this week that Carrie Fisher had signed on for another round in a galaxy far, far away, it appears her onscreen twin brother and love interest are also set to take to their fighters again.

In a Business Week article about Disney buying the rights to Star Wars, George Lucas talks about making the films, the criticism he received over various aspects of the two trilogies (do we even HAVE to mention Jar Jar Binks??? – I thought not), and the path to Disney but also let slip that all three original leads, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo)  would be back for Episode VII

But before you start having a celebration that rivals the Endor party when the second Death Star was destroyed, Lucas goes on to state that “we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation… I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not”. And one of Fisher’s representatives was quick to halt the rumour mill started by Fisher’s comments to the Palm Beach Illustrated, saying that “nothing has been announced”. Lucas did say though that “I think they want to announce that [the return of Hamill, Fisher and Ford] with some big whoop-de-do” so I wouldn’t discount the rumours or Fisher’s statement just yet.
