Star Wars Rogue One Could Bring Back Former Villain

Star Wars Rogue One is currently undergoing filming for the 2016 film, and a new report notes that we could see the return of a classic villain,

With major anticipation building around the beloved Star Wars franchise, Disney has given us quite a few opportunities to obtain new insight on the Star Wars universe, and we are now hearing that for the anthology film titled Rogue One, will see the return of a classic villain and an assortment of new costumes. First, Daily Mail claimed earlier this week that villain Grand Moff Tarkincwill appear in this upcoming standalone installment. The character (originally played by Peter Cushing) was Dath Vaders commander as well as the originator of the feared Death Star. Cushing passed away back in 1994, so how are they going to incorporate his character you ask? The site also reports that they plan on being very inventive with his presence, noting, “This is one of the most complex and costly CGI re-creations ever. Cushing is a pivotal plot line as he was the one to create Darth Vader and there’s a whole back story that will come out.”

People have already began to take issue with this quote, after all Emperor Palpetine is responsible for the creation of Darth Vader. Is it possible that this in-between film could shed light on more aspects of the Star Wars mythology, and alter our perceptions of events we thought we understood? Absolutely. In addition to this major rumor, pictures have surfaced courtesy of Rogue One actor Donnie Yen, providing a look at the new Storm Trooper helmets (which was later deleted) but social media has helped the image survive the deletion, and spread to many twitter accounts including this one:

With each tidbit of information provided, I’m getting more ancy for the return of the Star Wars universe, and I can’t wait to find out what major revelations we learn in Star Wars Rogue One, set to hit theaters December 16th, 2016.
