Following a massive year for Team Starkid, including performances of ‘Holy Musical B@man’ and the much anticipated ‘A Very Potter Senior Year’, as well as the ‘Apocalyptour’ national tour, Side B Radio host and PopWrapped’s very own Lead Events Editor Stephanie Walsh’s interview with the team’s agent Pat Brady always promised to be intriguing for fans with regards to 2013 – and she didn’t disappoint! Below is a summary of what we can expect from Team Starkid in the coming months:
First, the question plaguing everyone and anyone’s who has seen the first two instalments ‘A Very Potter Musical’ and ‘A Very Potter Sequel’, when will ‘A Very Potter Senior Year’ be on YouTube? Currently the team are struggling with technical difficulties with regards to the sound (which is the reason why the script was released). They are, however, working really hard to fix it, and so hopefully we should see it at some point in the future.
As well as this, Pat revealed her thoughts on the current Starkid project ‘Airport For Birds’. Although it is different to what we are used to seeing Starkid do (being described as more of a Saturday Night Live-type show and directed at a more adult demographic), it still maintains the hilarity that this cast always bring to the table. Standout performances include Chris Allen and Denise Donovan, and the new faces Daniel Strauss and Pat Rourke are apparently great and fit in really well.
When it comes to the next few months for Team Starkid, Pat dropped some very heavy hints, and strongly emphasised that “THERE WILL BE A STARKID SOMETHING THIS YEAR”. She said she hoped ‘something else might come up soon’ following the close of A4B in March, as well as implications as to something possibly going on in July and maybe October.
With regards to the possibility of a new Starkid show, Pat mentioned that the team were currently talking about various parodies, although there is nothing written. Some ideas mentioned included Aladdin, Peter Pan and Transformers.
Pat also discussed the Invasion Sci-Fi Convention in London this May, at which a selection of Starkids including Joey, Lauren, Dylan, Denise, Joe Walker, Meredith and Brian will be doing panels and signing autographs to do with ‘Starship’. It was also said that ‘Starship’ on Broadway was definitely still a possibility, and many producers and theatres are still interested. The show does, however, have to be cut, and the Starkids were described as more “move forward then look back kinda guys”, but should they wish to go back to it, something could definitely happen.
Ideas about a ‘Joe Moses One Man Showses’ tour were also mentioned, although the issue with this is the venues – so if you want Joe to come to your town and know of a venue that would be good for a sketch comedy show such as JMOMS, and could be filled, make sure to email Pat at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Other things for Starkid fans to look out for include Joey Richter’s voice role in ‘Kumba’, which will probably be released next summer, as well as Joey and Joe Moses working on background voices for ‘The Simpsons’.
Pat is also currently working with Sock Puppet Theatre, a team of amazing people including Pat’s husband Bob Joles, and individuals who have worked on ‘The Cleveland Show’, ‘Fish Hooks’, and ‘King of the Hill’ – so make sure to check them out at sockpuppettheatre.com.
