Stranger Things Season 2 Trailer Airs During Super Bowl

A short trailer of the wildly popular Netflix hit, Stranger Things, aired during the Super Bowl, bringing forth a lot of excitement and speculation.

The wildly popular show Stranger Things has amassed a huge following since its release in July of 2016, and fans are eagerly awaiting information about the next season. During the Super Bowl, the next trailer of Stranger Things debuted and came as a surprise to all. Fans eagerly took to Twitter to share their excitement, and the series tag remained one of the top trending hashtags for hours.

Watch the trailer below:

The previous trailer only showed graphics of the series’ titles, but the new one is a short but regular format trailer. It begins by looking like an old advertisement for Eggos, Eleven’s favorite food, but quickly degenerates into something far more sinister.

The trailer reveals a few important things. Eleven is alive after facing the Demogorgon, but where she is and what she has been through since then is still unclear. Will was found alive in the season finale of the first season, but he is confined to a hospital in Season 2. Perhaps there are more effects of having been trapped in the Upside-Down that are still plaguing him. The “storm” that was implied in the last Season 2 teaser is a literal one and thick with heavy clouds and red lightning.

A silhouette of a strange, inhuman creature is shown looming over Hawkins, so another monster is likely to appear. At the end of the first season, Will vomits up a black slug that slips into a drain, so it is possible that the slug has since grown into something terrifying. Fans speculate that the new monster could be the Thessalhydra, another creature from Dungeons and Dragons that was mentioned by the boys in an earlier episode. The Thessalhydra is linked with the Demogorgon, so it is a good candidate for another creature from the Upside-Down.

Season 2 is set to air on Halloween, a perfect release date for the spectacularly eerie show.
