It looks like the Supernatural fandom might be getting what they've always wanted.
There are talks that the CW's longest-running drama series is working on a brand new spin-off series entitled Wayward Sisters. The spin-off will star Supernatural fan favorite Kim Rhodes as Sheriff Jody Mills. The project, even though it has not been given the green light just yet, will air as a backdoor pilot sometime during Supernatural's 13th season.
A female Supernatural spin-off
The tentative synopsis is that Jody has taken in a group of troubled young women, all of whom have been orphaned because of different supernatural-related tragedies. Jody will train and protect the group over the course of the series, helping them become one big fighting force.
Supernatural's own Andrew Dabb, Robert Singer, Phil Sgriccia and Robert Berens will all oversee the spin-off. Currently, Rhodes is said to be the only actress attached to the project; however, other characters from Supernatural could be making appearances. I am personally rooting for Briana Buckmaster to get in on this spin-off action, and, based on what she's posted to Twitter, it seems like she is on board as well.
Then you'll be watching the SHIT out of it. ???????????????????? https://t.co/FRKlIni0Zn— Briana Buckmaster (@OfficialBrianaB) June 20, 2017
This isn't the first time there has been a backdoor pilot within Supernatural world. Supernatural: Bloodlines was a spin-off in the ninth season of the show, and it was set to explore the world of hunters in Chicago. Sadly, the show wasn't picked up in 2014.
The CW has yet to post a release about the project, but fans are hoping for this spin-off will become a reality.
